UPLIFTING ELEVATOR PROGRESS REPORT #7 February 27, 2017
As the work progresses, decisions have to be made and the unexpected has to be acted on.
Water and basalt rock were indeed found in the excavation for the elevator. The problems are solved, but it does constitute some extra cost for which, fortunately, we have the funds.
The next decision is the very large, old spruce tree that hangs over the new outside door to the stairs and elevator. Much discussion has taken place, but reality sets in. In order to protect the building and make the entrance safe, the tree will be removed entirely. In place of the tree, we will make something nice, a space that will be useable for all. Planning is in progress, and hopefully this week we will have a new plan for that space. Remember we do still have the very large spruce tree in the front by the Deschutes Room!
The Nu-2-U shop space will begin to take shape this week. Advance warning, because the new roof trusses will arrive on site on March 6, the main entrance will be blocked on Friday afternoon, March 3 and again on the 6th and it is possible some work will take place on Sat, March 4th. Watch for more announcement as to ability to enter the building on those days. It will not affect evening events or bingo, so keep on coming to the Center!
Until next week enjoy the warmer weather, and be well.
Thanks for all your patience, Joan
